2008 Varsity Weekend

The Florida State Varsity Club is again proud to sponsor Varsity Weekend 2008.  If you are not aware, we invite all former athletes, trainers, and managers back for various activities to be enjoyed by all.  Varsity Weekend is a time to re-live those memories of competing for the Seminoles while visiting with many of your old friends, teammates and coaches.

Varsity Weekend 2008 has been set for September 5th & 6th, around the FSU-Western Carolina football game.  On Friday, we will host a golf tournament & Hall of Fame banquet. On Saturday, our game day activities will include a pre-game barbecue and an on-field recognition for all former athletes.

The Varsity Club encourages all former athletes to make every effort to get back for this fabulous event.

2008 Varsity Day

On Saturday, September 6, we will again host our annual pre-game barbecue.  Each former athlete is encouraged to bring their families to this complimentary lunch.

The location of this year’s barbecue will be the Dick Howser Stadium Suites.  The barbecue will begin three hours prior to the scheduled kickoff of the FSU-Western Carolina football game.  Again, the barbecue is free of charge for all former athletes and their families.  Come join your former teammates, coaches and many friends for a wonderful gathering of former Seminoles!

2008 Golf Tournament
Dr. Don Veller Memorial

On the morning of Friday, September 5, the Varsity Club will host the Twenty-Fourth Annual Varsity Club Golf Classic. In staying with tradition, we will again honor one of our own with this great event, the late Dr. Don Veller. This year’s event will be held at The Seminole-Veller Golf Course and will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The 2008 Dr. Don Veller Memorial is open to all 2008-2009 members of the FSU Varsity Club and their immediate family. The entry fee is just $115.00 for members and $130.00 for family members. The fee includes a continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf with a cart, and the post tournament lunch/awards ceremony.

The format for the classic is a four person scramble.  Prizes will be awarded to all four members of the first place team.  Individual prizes ranging from the longest drive to the longest putt holed are also available on each hole.
